Mark Philpot, Director of Worship
NAME: Mark Philpot
BORN: October 14, 1978 in Pensacola, FL
FAMILY: Mom and Dad: Jim & Lucille; Brothers: Chris & Tom
HOBBIES: Reading, writing, playing music, working on my house
EDUCATION:
FAVORITE...
- BOOKS: Pensees (Blaize Pascal), The Pursuit of God (Tozer), The Myth of Intervention (Scott Berkun), Biographies (like Walt Disney's!)
- MOVIES: Robin Hood (cartoon version), Stranger Than Fiction, Usual Suspects, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
- MUSIC: I'm for it. I tend to categorize music less in the normal genres, but more in the well done vs. poorly done category... i.e. if there's such a thing as well-done country music, I wouldn't be opposed to it. Unfortunately, some normative genres have a greater proportion of poorly done creations.
- STARBUCKS DRINK: The standard Americano... the "o" makes it's very international, you know? I feel like I'm bringing Italians and Americans together every time I have one...
YOUR ROLE @ TCBC: Teaching who God is and what He's done through music and lyric, developing musicians and worship leaders, writing songs, cultivating prayer among the body of Christ, and thinking creatively about how to convey the message of the Gospel to and through the church, as well as to the culture at large.
