How can all sin be equal to God when we cannot possibly see it that way? (e.g., rape vs. premarital sex vs. divorce)

Why is divorce so accepted today? The Bible seems to say that divorce except in the case of adultery is sin. So, we talk about forgiveness for sin but how does that connect with the consequences of sin?

Some people I know who are gay truly believe that they are biologically predisposed to homosexuality. How can God create humans whose lifestyle is clearly a sin in the Bible?
